Today’s topic is, “Pick that domain name carefully”
Welcome to the Friday Roundup. It is Friday, December 2, 2016. Today’s topic is Pick That Domain Name Carefully. Hello, everyone. I’m John Peterson with Develare and normally I would start off our video with a story and include some real world examples from some of our clients, not today though. I’m not giving away their secrets. However, what I can do is give you are some broader examples. Domain names, that’s the theme for the day. How did you pick yours?
You probably picked something with your company name slapped on a dot-com and called it a day. That’s what we did with our company name. We started this over 15 years ago and that’s before we knew we knew about all this SCO stuff. However you can turn your company into a great domain name by following the advice in this video.
Let’s say you are a donuts shop. Why not put that in a domain name? Shipleydonuts.com did and they are on my first page of Google using the keyword doughnut shop. If you are a hardware store you can use this, too. For me, Ace’s Hardware is the number one search result on Google search for the keyword hardware store.
I’m not sure how extensive the SEO campaign is for Shipleys Donuts or Ace’s Hardware. I can tell you this though. Having the right keywords in the domain name helps quite a bit. Clients of ours with keyword-rich domain names get thousands of dollars in Google search exposure every month.
Now there are some other things we are doing along that line as well, some other local SCO tips, but having that keyword-rich domain name is super helpful and this can work for your business, too.
If you have a skilled local SCO firm, it’s time to pick their brains, if not feel free to give us a call.
That’s the Friday Roundup …
