Friday Roundup: Are you listed?

Welcome to Friday Roundup. It is Friday, January 20, 2017. Today's topic is ... Oh, almost forgot. Hello, everyone. I'm John Peterson with Develare. Today's topic is: Are you listed? My wife called me the other day and wanted the address to the office. She wanted to plug in her GPS. She was heading in from an unfamiliar spot and wanted to make sure she bypassed traffic. I told her, "Just enter in Develare." She was like, "What? What do you mean? I just type in your company name and it's going to show up?" I'm like, "Yeah." She was surprised.

Well, how do you do this? It's not too hard. You just have to make sure that your company is listed in what's called local directories. Now there are a number of local directories out there. I know most of you are familiar with Yelp, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Bing, etc. The list really goes on and on, but all of these are what I would consider local directories.

You can have listings in each one of those. Each one of these local directory listings fall under what's called the local SEO umbrella. Now local SEO is just making sure that people and search engines know where you are. Now you could go out and manually update these directories yourself. You can also sell your own clothes. However, there are better ways to get fabulous clothes, the store, and there are better ways to get fabulous results with online directories.

That's where Yext comes in. With Yext you can manage 100+ directories from one place. You can also rotate your specials in these directories, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, spring break, summer, whatever. You can put them into Yext and it will push them out to these local directories for you.

Now you may be thinking, okay, we'll there's holidays coming up. What if I have holiday hours? Yext also supports holiday hours. Now not all of the local directories support holiday hours, but Yext supports holiday hours. Right now Google Maps is the only one that it works with. However, I'm sure more are coming soon. I would think more would have to come soon.

Let's see. For now, let's see, we talked about Yext having holiday hours. You want more people to visit your small business. Now whether that's in person or calling you on the phone, you have to make sure you're out there in the local directories. You can do it manually. You can go out and put yourself into 100+ directories; you can sew your own clothes as well. Or you could give Yext a shot.
