How did Google know my Business hours?

Hello, everyone. I am John Peterson with Develare. Today's topic is how did Google know my business hours? All right. Next time you're on your desktop computer navigate to google.com and type in Develare. You'll probably see standard search results on the left column and a fancy sidebar on the right side, on the right column. That fancy sidebar is known as the knowledge panel.

There are two things that feed the knowledge panel. The first thing is what's called a Google My Business listing. The second is what's called schema markup. Schema markup tells search engines what data is. Without schema, search engines have to guess. When search engines have to guess, no fancy treatment.

How do you get your business hours in the knowledge panel? The easiest way to be set up what's called a Google My Business page. What if you want Google to understand even more about your business, if you want them to understand that you have ... Or, let's say you have events or products, movie reviews, recipes, news articles or you want to tell Google you're a dentist, a health and beauty business, food establishment or any one of the other 583 different schema types that they support. In that case, ask your web guy or gal to look into schema.
